Minutes for General Membership Meeting

7/16/11

 

 

Meeting was called to order at 3:10pm at the York Fencing Club, York, PA

In attendance were Tim Stuhldreher, April Kauffman, Nannette Halliwell, Dick Kirchoff, Kim Bleecker, Todd DeAngelis, Tony Alvarez.

Open Comment Period:

No comments made.

 

Reports:

Finance: Presented by Dick Kirchoff.

· Interim Financial Report 8/1/10-6/30/11 presented. Balance as of 6/30/11-$5,878.90.

· Motion to accept finance report made by Todd, seconded by Tim. Carried without objection.

Armory: Presented by April Kauffman.

· Three new scoring sets were purchased from Absolute Fencing on 4/3/11.

· Sets are Favero Full Arm 05 and include floor reels, cables, and remotes. Total cost: $3,975.45.

· Tony expressed interest in purchasing 2 of the older division floor reels provided they are working. April will check on the working order of the older division equipment.

Tournaments: Presented by Nannette.

· Review of tournaments.

· There has been an overall improvement in quality of tournaments in attendance and rating earned. Tony expressed interest in hosting unrated sabre events, possibly being co-hosted at Lebanon FC with Gary Rusen.

 

Announcement of 2011-2012 Officers:

Election not needed as no offices were sought by more than one person.

New officers:

Chair-Tim Stuhldreher

Vice chair-April Kauffman

Secretary/Treasurer-Dick Kirchoff

 

Looking Ahead:

Tournaments: Presented by Nannette.

· Info on upcoming NAC’s and other USFA events were presented.

· Discussions have been taking place concerning a Peter Folgner Memorial Sabre Event, possibly hosted at Lebanon FC in late Oct. or early Nov.

· Plans should be made to host more events, possibly monthly, during the year beyond the annual events already taking place.

· Todd discussed the importance of “youth” (13 and under) and beginner events to keep young fencers involved in fencing.

· Todd and Tony expressed interest in veteran events. Event site must be easy to find for participants.

Keystone State Games:

· Curtis Huey not present to present current info and progress report. Importance of informing participants/spectators of any parking fee and admittance fee at Farm Show Complex discussed.

Bylaws: Presented by Tim.

No progress made as of this meeting.

Suggestions for Upcoming Year: Presented by Tim.

· Tony expressed interest in evening armory seminars, fencing camps at Stuart Center in Carlisle to take place during the summer of 2012.

Todd made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Motion seconded by Nannette.
